FASHIONABLY LATE

Sunset Sessions. A little piece of Dallas brought back to Albuquerque. That rooftop-bar feeling, house music, good drinks, and familiar faces coming together in an unexpected environment.

Unexpectedly, we show up late, after the sun has already set.

By the time we arrive at Damacios, things are already in full swing. The Vice West DJs and a saxophone player are in full motion, the music is sounding great, and drinks are flowing through the crowd.

It's not exactly a full-blown dance scene. People are vibing to the music, enjoying the view, sipping their drinks, and getting lost in conversations. Everything seems to be happening simultaneously, yet somehow it all comes together beautifully.

There's something special about an atmosphere where nobody needs to be doing the same thing to be enjoying the same moment.

FINDING OUR RHYTHM

As the drinks keep flowing and the music starts ramping up, we begin settling into the atmosphere. Looking around, I can see the excitement building as everyone starts loosening up and getting into the music.

Ivan, one of the Outsiders representing Eyes White Shut for the night, and my cousin Josiah are really feeling the music. Not long, we're dancing in our own little world. Nothing serious, no need to catch anyone's attention. Just having a bit of fun, joking at ourselves, and dancing however we feel like.

As the night goes on, I start running into familiar faces, catching up with people, and enjoying the conversations happening all around us.

Meanwhile, Stevo, one of the Vice West DJs and a member of the Eyes White Shut crew, is out mingling and having a good time while Alekash keeps the music going behind the decks.

Somewhere in all this, Stevo even ends up getting a lesson on how to twerk.

At this point, we're all just having a good time, enjoying the music, the people, and whatever ridiculous moments the night decides to throw at us.

LAST CALL

As the night starts winding down, the energy somehow keeps building. Everyone's getting more into the music, dancing, laughing, and ordering one last drink before last call.

Stevo and Alekash hop on the mic and start hyping everyone up, bringing the crowd together. What started as everyone enjoying the music in their own little worlds has turned into people dancing together, sharing the moment.

The vibes are damn immaculate.

For a night we showed up late to, we sure as hell had a good time. Good music, good drinks, familiar faces, and a whole lot of laughs. Not a bad way to spend an evening.

And just like that, Vice West's first Sunset Session comes to an end.

Here's hoping it's the first of many.
